Is Singita Worth It? An Honest Planner’s Verdict

Singita is worth it if you value privacy, flexible guiding, top-level food and service, and knowing your money supports serious conservation. It is less worth it if your main goal is simply seeing the migration or big cats, because excellent luxury camps deliver those for roughly half the nightly price.

This article sets out what you get for the premium, where the value is highest, and when we would suggest something else. For itineraries, see our Singita safaris page.

What you pay

In 2026, Singita Sasakwa ranges from about US$3,430 to US$4,460 per person per night, fully inclusive. Luxury camps in the central Serengeti typically cost about US$1,200 to US$2,500. See how much Singita costs per night.

What the premium buys

1. Space and privacy. In the Grumeti Reserve, 350,000 acres are shared by a small number of guests. You rarely see another vehicle.

2. Freedom to explore. Off-road driving, night drives, walks and horseback safaris are allowed on the private reserve. In the national park, vehicles must stay on roads and night drives are not allowed. See Singita Grumeti vs the central Serengeti.

3. Guiding. Singita guides are among the most experienced in Africa, and many stays include a private vehicle.

4. Food, wine and design. Singita’s lodges are known for restaurant-quality food, wine cellars and design that feels part of the landscape.

5. Conservation impact. Singita describes a 100-year purpose to protect wilderness. Guest revenue funds anti-poaching, research and community programmes in the areas where it operates.

When Singita is worth it

  • Honeymoons and milestones. If this is a once-in-a-lifetime trip, the extra privacy and service make it memorable. See our honeymoon safaris.
  • Families and groups. Exclusive-use villas such as Serengeti House can be good value per person. See private safari villas for families.
  • Repeat safari travellers who want walking, night drives and time away from other vehicles.
  • Travellers who value service as much as wildlife.

When we would suggest something else

  • If you mainly want the Mara River crossings, camps in the northern Serengeti put you closer to the action. Singita Mara River Tented Camp is an option, but so are several excellent alternatives. See our Mara River crossings guide.
  • If budget matters, mixing 2 or 3 Singita nights with luxury camps elsewhere gives you the best of both.
  • If you prefer rustic, simple camps, Singita’s polish may feel like more than you need.

Our verdict

For most travellers spending US$30,000 or more per person on a safari, including a few nights at Singita is worth it. For a longer trip, combining Singita with carefully chosen camps elsewhere often gives a better overall experience than staying at Singita throughout.

FAQs

Why is Singita so expensive?

Small guest numbers on large private reserves, a high staff-to-guest ratio, remote logistics and significant conservation funding all add to the cost.

Is Singita better than Four Seasons Serengeti?

They are different. Four Seasons is a larger resort-style lodge inside the national park with road-only driving. Singita is smaller, on a private reserve, with off-road driving, walks and night drives.

How many nights should I stay at Singita?

Three nights is a good minimum. Six nights across two or three Singita lodges lets you see different landscapes.
